This true to original instrument is mainly meant for decoration, but one can well use the telescope to check heights and measure them with the protractor.
Before you can do this, the Alidade has to be adjusted to the horizon with the aid of the water level and the direction has to be set with the compass.

Overall height (incl. water level): 22 cm / 8.6".
Diameter of the base: 15 cm / 5.9".
Diameter of the compass: 8.5 cm / 3.3".
Length of telescope, when extended: 31 cm / 12.2", when pushed together: 22 cm / 8.6".

The instrument is stored in a wooden transport box (27 x 27 x 16 cm / 10.6 x 10.6 x 6.3").
